Victoria Derby Day
Best Bets
Race 5 Lexus Stakes #9 Signoff – Darren Weir has been prepping this horse for this time of year and is perfectly suited for this race
Race 9 Tab.com.au Stakes #6 Deep Field – A beautiful looking horse, older brother of Shooting to Win, broke the Canterbury track record, the only thing that can stop him is going the other direction
Good Choices
Race 1 Carbine Club Stakes #15 Azkadellia – Blitzed home after no luck last start, at Flemington it should have it a bit easier with a top jockey on board
Race 4 Coolmore Stud Stakes #5 Rubick – Such a class horse, might be his last run of the campaign after just returning last start (with a win), think he is primed for it
Each Way
Race 6 Longines MacKinnon Stakes #6 Brambles – Just continues to run and run and run, desperately unlucky not to get a place in the Caulfield Cup but is decent value again today
Top Roughies
Race 8 Myer Classic #16 Neena Rock – Was outstanding last start in Sydney, is continuing to improve and maybe no stopping her yet?
One for the Exotics
Race 7 Aami Victoria Derby#7 Nozomi – Tough race for favourites, Hampton Court heading to Melbourne & some decent alternatives scare us away from the favourite. Beat Preferment last start, always good to look at those in form for the Derby. You can also take a saver on Preferment, Moonovermanhattan or Firehouse Rock if you are really keen on taking on the favourite
Watch Fontein Ruby and Abduction in the Wakeful Stakes (Race 2), you probably won’t get the value you want but you must include them in the exotics. Race 3 is another tough one so a wide first four could be best, don’t discount Smokin’ Joey or Turqouise King while at Rosehill Race 7 #6 is a good each way chance & at Doomben Race 6 #13 could be excellent value – Good Luck and enjoy a great day of racing!
